Hello Dolls!

I am writing this inspired by Benebell Wen, a woman who I respect deeply. I think these are thought provoking and discussion making questions and I wanted to give my perspective.

Question 1 Were you self-taught or mentored?

I was self-taught. I had read about tarot and was first introduced to serious tarot study through my psychology studies. It opened my eyes to the unique and powerful ways this tool can be used to heal the psyche. After that, I bought every tarot book I could get my hands on. I began to study extensively on my own. I would like to say that I was inspired and learned from Benebell Wen and Kelly Ann Maddox as well, but these lovely ladies didn't mentor me in the traditional sense.

Question 2 Are you a psychic or a tarot reader?

I believe that everyone is "psychic" in their own way. Our intuition is our guiding force and the knowing we feel comes from some primal, ancestral part of us. As I have developed a meditation practice and feel more "plugged in" to the world around me, I notice that my intuition comes through much stronger and clearer than in the past.

Some people seem to be more "plugged in" than most. Children and the elderly have a natural knowing. Mothers often have a special intuition about their children. Couples who have spent years together develop a strong connection to one another as well. To my these connection are natural rather than supernatural.

However, I do not call myself a psychic because I believe the term to be misleading. The work I do is not predictive, it is rather the work of a healer. I would prefer the term shaman over psychic.

Question 3 Are your predictions accurate and would you say accuracy is important to you?

As I said in the previous question, my work is not predictive in nature. I am not here to tell you who you will marry or what will happen in your job interview or weather or not your friends are gossiping behind your back. I use tarot to heal the psyche and empower my clients to take control of their lives. Instead of telling you if the new guy at work will ask you out, I would rather help you be confident enough in your own skin to ask him out. Instead of telling you weather you will ace your interview, I would rather help you deal with your anxiety so you can conquer it yourself - and all future anxious situations.

Accuracy is important to me in the sense that I want to get to the heart of the issue. I would prefer the term authenticity. If my clients are honest with me, and I am honest with them, then we can get to the deep and nourishing parts of the tarot together.

Question 4 Is there anything you can't predict in a reading?

I believe that tarot works like a flashlight. It can show you the path ahead and guide your way, but in the dark there are a million and one unseen forces in play that we can't possibly prepare for. So I chose instead to focus on the now and close future. What can we do now to prepare you for the unknown way ahead? How can we heal the past so it no longer impedes your future? I am much more interested in that that I am in trying to tell your fortune. As a reader, I will not conduct and fortune teller style reading but I will happily send that client along to someone who will.

Question 5 Do you only use tarot or are you multi-disciplinary?

I am strictly a tarot and oracle girl myself. Personally, I like to play with pendulums and bibliography, but I wouldn't use them for clients.

Question 6 Is the message in the cards or in your head?

Both. The cards are the diving board, the doorway into the psyche. They give us a place to begin. They provide available pathways to move forward and navigate our path. They let us know what to look out for and provide creative ways to heal. It is up to me as the reader to interpret and dive into the depths. I must walk through the door myself. That is why there are many tarot readers. Each one brings something unique to a reading. I will see something another reader wont, just as she will see something I don't. It is a lovely partnership between reader and cards.

Question 7 Are you a priest or a fortune teller?

Oh god, neither! I am a guide, healer, shaman, friend, confidant, reader, coach, spiritual mystic and psyche diver.

Question 8 Are you a fixer or a looker?

Both. I look for clues as to how to fix the situation. Although I can only fix so much. I can shine my proverbial flashlight on the solution but it is up to the client to fix it themselves. Once the reading is over and they are home, they take on the role of fixer. My job is to empower them to do the work.

Question 9 Do you read for free or for a fee?

Both. I often do free readings on my Facebook page and I offer readings for sale on my Etsy shop, LionHeartTarotCo. If you would like to book a reading with me, click here.

Question 10 Is there anything you wont read for?

Yes. I think all professionals have their boundaries. I wont read for love in the "does he love me", "will he stay" or "are we soulmates" sense. I would much rather focus on you and your healing journey. I will happily read for couples or read for relationships from a place of what is possible to heal a relationship. I wont predict pregnancies or windfall or death. I am here to help you on your journey and that is my focus.

Love and light. XOXO
